The talk analyzed Obama's policies and wars in the Middle East and the extent to which the Bush doctrine differs or overlaps with the Obama doctrine. The talk will also analyze Middle Eastern reactions to President Obama, particularly from the Arab World.
As`ad AbuKhalil is Professor of Political Science at CSU Stanislaus and visiting professor atUniversity of California, Berkeley. AbuKhalil is the author of Historical Dictionary of Lebanon (1998), Bin Laden, Islam & America's New "War on Terrorism" (2002), and The Battle for Saudi Arabia (2004). He maintains one of the prominent blogs on the Middle East, The Angry Arab News Service.

Forum on Arab and Muslim Affairs (FAMA) is the research arm of the Arab Studies Institute. It produces and oversees ASI’s research projects on overarching issues related to the Arab and broader Muslim worlds, including the Middle East and North Africa. The forum is the home of ASI's Knowledge Production Project, the Political Economy Project, among others. All FAMA projects are operated by the Arab Studies Institute, a nonprofit organization that produces and scrutinizes knowledge on matters related to the Arab world and its relations.
